Solo Tenor
By David Wiegand

José Carreras leaves the rest of the Three Tenors behind when he appears this week at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, but that's just fine: The world-famous tenor can more than hold his own. Carreras' career features more than 150 recordings, including ``The Three Tenors'' series with Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. With a repertoire of more than 60 operas, Carreras has performed in some of the world's greatest opera houses and recital halls. His career was interrupted for several years when he contracted leukemia, but after successfully fighting the disease, he came back in even stronger voice. Carreras' appearance will include a VIP post-concert reception at the Fountain Grove Inn.

José Carreras, 8 p.m. Thursday, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, 50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa, tickets $60-$100, VIP seating and post-concert reception, $250, (707) 546-3600, www.lbc.net
