MOSCOW (MT) - World-renowned Spanish tenor Jose Carreras and British
soprano Sarah Brightman will unite for a gala concert at the Bolshoi
Theater on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
Carreras and Brightman gave their first joint performance in 1992 at
the Olympic Games in Barcelona, performing their hit "Amigos Para
Siempre."
The upcoming concert, with the Russian National Orchestra, directed by
David Giminez and Paul Bateman, will be a combination of classical and
modern works. Carreras will perform operatic arias and Italian canzones
during the first half of the concert. The second half will feature
solos by Brightman as well as duets by the pair, including some of the
most well-known duets from "Phantom of the Opera," "West Side Story"
and other musicals. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to
renovation of the Bolshoi Theater.
