I am 25 and immigrated to the United States from the Ukraine in 1991.
I have a Master's degree in business, and work for a research institution.
But I also studied music for seven years - piano, timpani, and voice. It's
my hope to one day become a part of the opera world somehow - I've no idea
in what capacity yet.
I became a Carreras fan in the US after the 3-T concert (yes, like so
many) and seeing him in concert in 1994 in Denver. If he wonders who
screamed "Bravo!" the loudest, well the secret is out. My favorite Carreras
hits? "Tu, che nun chiagne", "E lucevan de stelle" "L'improviso," and "Vesti
la Giubba". I wish he'd sing Otello.
I managed to get the tickets for his upcoming recital in Denver. I'll
sit much closer this time and hope to get an autograph. I feel so silly
about it, what would I say to this great man? I guess, given a chance, I'd
tell him that he is my inspiration and role model for courage, personality
and class.
