On Friday, November 2, 2001 SZ Magazine will auction original sheets of music from José Carreras in their Hammeraktion for the benefit of the Deutsche José Carreras Leukämie-Stiftung (the German branch of the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation) Mr. Carreras has personally chosen the sheets of one of his favorite songs - the piece was originally sung by his great idol Enrico Caruso -

The song was recorded 1980; the text is by Cordifero, the music was composed by Salvatore. Cardillo; the conductor of the recording was Maestro Eduardo Müller.

Mr. Carreras loves this piece very much and sings it often (of course by heart) - because of this he is now able to be without the sheets, he used for this recording.

Mr. Carreras has personally used these sheets during many rehearsals and has marked them with handwritten notes. Together with these sheets comes a CD and an original photo with his autograph. The entire proceeds of this auction will go to the DJCLS.
